Safety First: Helping the IATP Insure the Rapidly Growing Trampoline Park Industry

The exploding popularity of indoor trampoline parks has been welcome news for everyone from fitness buffs and families to dodgeball enthusiasts and competitive athletes. Trampoline parks worldwide are expected to number more than 550 by the end of 2015, and it’s anticipated that these parks will be adding new features and concessions to attract more customers and provide even better guest experiences.

To be sure, it’s an exciting time for the industry, but such rapid growth is not without challenges – especially for insurance providers tasked with helping create accessible, fun, and safe accommodations at these facilities. To help Haas & Wilkerson Insurance better serve its customers and collaborators within the trampoline park industry, we recently attended the 3rd Annual Conference & Trade Show from the International Association of Trampoline Parks (IATP). IATP is one of our trusted partners and is leading the charge to advance safety standards and help ensure success for the owners and operators of trampoline parks.

This year’s three-day conference had more than 375 people in attendance, including representatives from 15 countries – a true testament to the industry’s tremendous growth and IATP’s reputation as the preeminent voice for trampoline parks around the world.

Your Passport to Success

With the theme of “Your Passport to Success,” the conference was designed for IATP members to collectively address the future of trampoline parks. As a relatively new industry, legislative and regulatory initiatives are ongoing and safety protocols continue to evolve. With a wide variety of workshops and presenters available, conference participants were able to hear about these rapid changes, as well as network with their peers and learn potentially new ways of doing business. In a nutshell, making sure trampoline parks are safe and fun – as well as ensuring their continued growth and success – was the goal for everyone in attendance, including Haas & Wilkerson Insurance.

Our own significant experience with amusement facility risk mitigation and liability made the burgeoning trampoline business a natural fit for us. We quickly recognized the opportunity to play a role in developing the safety and success of trampoline parks, and as such have developed a complete line of products that touch all the insurance-based needed, from loss control to safety inspection and beyond.

As you can imagine, safety is a big factor in the insurability of a trampoline park. When Haas & Wilkerson considers insuring one of these facilities, we look for owners who adhere to recommendations currently in place, such as providing trained court referees, properly maintaining equipment, and giving advance safety training to every patron. Helping these parks implement such standards provides much-needed protection for customers, owners, and operators. When safety is top of mind, everybody wins.

What this Means for Us

Attending conferences such as these gives Haas & Wilkerson the opportunity to connect one-on-one with our customers. Our recently announced partnership on a new insurance program with IATP makes it even more important for us to stay abreast of the many changes occurring within the trampoline park industry. Our passion for what we do and our desire to deliver high-quality solutions means we must continue to enhance our expertise and re-evaluate our products to meet the needs of our clients. Industry events like this one provide a rewarding and stimulating environment in which to do so.

As we continue lending a hand to this unique and rapidly growing industry, the energy of this event only cemented our expectations that the coming developments will be just as exciting.

A Much-Deserved Thank You

Outstanding events like the annual IATP conference and trade show don’t just happen overnight. It takes months of planning and hard work to pull them off. And on that note, we’d like to thank the current IATP Board of Directors – along with all of the sponsors, exhibitors, and attendees – for making this year’s event one for the record books. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
